Report on the D A 160 k
Eleven riders enjoyed a 100 mile sojourn through the Essex and Hertfordshire countryside on a fine sunny day on the 20th July 2008.
The route out from Mountnessing was westward through Matching Green, Allen’s Green, Sawbridgeworth, the Hadhams, Stocking Pelham, and Newport. The return eastward, was via Thaxted, Terling, Cock Clarks, Cold Norton Rettendon and on to St Johns hall Mountnessing.
There, Dot Sharp provided delicious home cooked refreshments washed down with cold and hot beverages.
Well, the other 1700 current members listed under the Essex D A now know what they missed, or at least those that read SPOTLIGHT, or the web site will. They also missed 4,406 feet of climb, rather surprising for a mainly Essex based ride! [ Ref Track Logs].
The first riders home were there by 4-32 pm, the last by 5-35 pm, all with smiles on their faces, or did I mistake a possible grimace?
The lucky eleven were:
Dave Russell ,& Diana Emery [Chelmsford]
John Copas, [Havering]
John Rootkin.
Ian Cable, Michael Curtis, Stefan Eichenseher, Ian Mather, John Steer, Chris Woodhouse, & Peter Wotherspoon. [SEG]
My thanks to Brian Penny, and Dot Sharp, for their invaluable help in the running of the event.
