Essex District Association Reunion Fellowship (EDARF)

The Viking Road Club was formed in 1927 by men of the Essex District Association of the Cyclists' Touring Club who wanted to race and in 1934 adopted the Essex DA colours of black with a white horizontal band.

We had a large membership, also open to women from 1963. Up until the 1970s we were very successful with the promotion of Club & Open Time Trials, Road Races, Cyclos Cross, Cross Country Run, and other social events. With the decline in cycling during the 1970s we gradually weakened and since then we have had several goes at trying to get it going again but with no luck. At the present we no longer have any active members and just meet at EDARF lunches. We have a good collection of trophies, a handbook and rules and a history. If there is anyone young and enthusiastic and would like to take it into the future please contact us.

[DA or D.A. stands for District Association. 'CTC Essex DA' is the former title of the Essex CTC Member Group. For the sake of the acronym, the "DA" continues to live in EDARF.]
