Writtle Ride Report on 08/12/2013

Nine squeezed into the Transport Cafe at Norton Heath and we briefly met Andy & Margaret Q, who had had a successful tour crossing the Southern USA in September and endured temperatures over 100 degrees in stark contrast to the 7 degrees today. Six went onto The Rose & Crown at Writtle, which was very good value and even had some Rocking Rudolph ale to get us in the festive spirit. Colin B decided he should have two rounds of sandwiches, as he thought the cheap price would mean dainty portions, but he struggled to eat the doorstops that arrived on his plate. Mel M had burger and chips and even he struggled. But Jon C can always be relied upon to hoover up any remains, especially chips! On the way home, we stopped to investigate the Bee Shed Cafe at Lathcoats Farm Shop in Galleywood and hope to visit in the New Year, as it looks promising.
